Practice Experience
Mr. Zhang specializes in domestic and foreign-related litigation and arbitration and international arbitration. He has acted for clients in cases conducted at CIETAC, BAC, SHIAC, ICC, HKIAC, PA and different levels of domestic courts including the CICC of the Supreme People’s Court of China. He has represented both domestic and foreign clients in a broad range of sectors such as large-scale state-owned entities, insurance companies, overseas public companies, international private-entity companies, European engineering companies and international automobile manufacturing companies. Mr. Zhang has represented clients in various disputes, including international construction disputes, public company governance and shareholder disputes, equity investment disputes, intellectual property disputes, insurance contractual disputes and sales contractual disputes.
Mr. Zhang also advise clients in international investment arbitration services and is involved in two investment arbitrations in ICSID and PCA currently.

Representative cases
▪ Representing a leading state-owned insurance company in a HKIAC arbitration under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules against an international insurance company for a dispute arising out of a reinsurance agreement. The amount at stake is around EUR 10 million.
▪ Represent a major state-owned construction company in an arbitration before the Permanent Arbitration at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia for a dispute arising out of construction agreements. The amount at stake is more than EUR 30 million.
▪ Represent an Austrian engineering company in an ICC arbitration against a SOE relating to infringement of know-how, with EUR 30 million at stake.
▪ Represent a BVI company in an arbitration before HKIAC disputes arising out of loan agreements and shareholders dispute relating to a HKEX listed company.
▪ Represent a sport entertainment company in a HKIAC arbitration where our client is requested to join the proceeding as an additional party. Huizhong successfully defended the client and obtained an award dismissing the request to join.
▪ Represent a prominent international PE company as respondent in a set of setting aside proceedings before CICC in respect of two CIETAC partial arbitral award amounting to more than USD 140 million, which is the first dismissal case heard by CICC and CICC finally adopted opinion of Huizhong, rejected applicant’s request for dismissal and achieved a satisfactory result for client.
▪ Advise an international leading bio-technology corporation in a patent infringement case against two Chinese bio-technology companies before the Beijing IP Court and successfully obtained a judgment awarding more than RMB 20 million to our client. The case is now pending second trial by the Supreme People’s Court of China.
▪ Represent a company of new energy sector in a series of cases before courts for disputes arising out of construction agreements and sales agreements. In these proceedings, Hui Zhong promoted the client’s legitimate rights to the utmost and maximized the client’s benefit. All cases achieved satisfactory results.
▪ Advise a high-value individual in a SHIAC arbitration against a concerning a provincial state-owned enterprise concerning a dispute arising out of an investment agreement. Hui Zhong helped the client reach a satisfactory settlement.
▪ Represent the WOFE of a leading Spanish tooling company against its PRC supplier in a SHIAC arbitration concerning a dispute over a supply agreement for press dies.
