Ms. Zhao is the managing partner of Hui Zhong’s Shanghai office. Ms. Zhao has been practicing PRC law for over 20 years. She acted for clients both before the Chinese courts including the Supreme People’s Court and various international arbitration institutions including HKIAC, ICC, SIAC, CAS, etc. The clients she served cover a wide range of industries and her expertise lies in international trade, foreign investment, Sino-foreign joint venture, energy, telecommunication, construction, intellectual property, employment, sports and entertainment. ▪ Acted for a world-renowned Chinese Olympic swimming champion winner against WADA before CAS regarding an alleged anti-doping violation; working with the Swiss lawyer team to successfully set-aside the CAS arbitration award unfavorable to the Athlete before the Swiss Supreme Court.
▪ Acted for a Chinese commercial bank against a Hong Kong bank in parallel PRC litigations before the Supreme People’s Court (SPC) concerning both contractual disputes and fraud under the demand guarantee and counter-guarantee, successfully helped the client in overturning the first-instance judgment and won the cases by creating the first precedent by the SPC in this area.
▪ Acted for a USA Fortune Global 500 company against a Chinese infringer in a retrial case before the SPC regarding an unfair competition and infringement of trademark case and successfully helped the client in overturning the previous two-instance judgments and won the case in the end.
